Paper Doll Collaberation 2018 January Fairy Tale Theme

Base

Princess and the Frog, Sleeping Beauty

Cinderella

original sketch
I'm afraid I went a bit overboard with the new collaboration project for this month. I will be making outfits for this doll along with
PaperThinPersona
PaperDollSchool
and
PopCulturePaperDolls.  I had the honor of creating the doll base.  I always have a stack of 'base' ideas lying around and choose one for this years project.  I used Adobe Illustrator to slightly redesign the base, in hopes she could be posed in various ways.  Of course the base has a heavy anime influence and it's wonderful to see how each collaborators adjust this base to fit their own unique style. For the outfits, yes I did two pages of clothing!  I got a bit carried away.  The first sheet features Princess and the Frog and Sleeping Beauty.  I'll admit, neither is my 'favorite' fairy tale per the story but I love old vintage costumes and the 'pointy' princess hat.  The next sheet is Cinderella inspired, along with her rags outfit and a Rococo inspired dress.  I've spent more time on these then usual, as to fill a New Years Resolution of finishing projects early and cleanly.

Here is a paper doll from Wee Wisdom magazine featuring a doll named Sarah.  Sarah has 3 dresses, a top and a skirt, all with a red and white color scheme.  She was designed by 10 year old Martha Ann Burnett and drawn by Dorothy Wagstaff.  This is from June 1954 issue of the Wee Wisdom Magazine.

Justin Giggles

Can you believe this month is almost over?  What's around the corner? Valentine's Day of course!  This paper doll might have the worst name (or best) Justin Giggles.  He's a little boy with 6 outfits, hats, and a stuffed dog and cat, who also have 2 outfits with some hats. This is from Easter 1992 of Sew Beautiful.  The artist is Theresa Borelli I believe.

Margaret O'brien

This is a large cut paper doll set featuring the young actress Margaret O'brien.  It has two dolls with outfits along with some accessories and a cute little doll whom has her own wardrobe.  This cut set has seen better days and has lots of small rips and tears.  This set is from 1944 and was published by Whitman. Below are some scans I took a while ago of the same outfits from an incomplete set I had before I got the set above,

Inktober Witch Final

So somehow I totally forgot to scan the last two pages of my Inktober Witch project in October.  For the first page: October 26th is farm theme, October 27th is cook/chef, October 25th is insect, inspired by Thumblina, and October 29th is Lunar witch, so of course Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity inspired.  October 28th accidentally made it onto the next page and was Goth/Punk theme.  Also on the second page is October 29th Alchemist, I went with a Harry Potter robe.  October 30th was ghost witch, I gave her Sadako/Samara Ring girl hair.  And finally a free space, o Kawaii Witch lolita outfit.  More Outfits http://missmissypaperdolls.blogspot.com/search?q=inktober

More School Projects

watch
movie poster

skateboard decks
So these are the last three projects I did for my computer graphic class last semester (not including a portfolio project, which was just a document with all the projects we did throughout the class).  The top is a watch drawn in Adobe Illustrator.  It is based on two real watches (the band from one and the face from another).  The second is a movie poster.  I changed it a bit after class based on feedback received in peer review.  For this project we had to come up with a basic concept for the movie.  My movie, titled "Divided" is a near future sci-fi drama starting Scarlett Johansson as dual roles.  The movie focuses on a pair of twin sisters, (Piper and Pepper) who find out one of them is a clone, but do not know which one. Each woman then questions what it means to be human, ect...  And plot twist... It turns out both of them are clones and the orignal died during the experiment and many other copies exist, ect.  The tag line is "A secret brought then together... now it will tear them apart."  I imagine it will also have Natalie Portman as a scientist and Tom Hiddleston as a love interest.  The direct I put on the poster is Nacho Vigalongo, whose done a few movies and I would love to see a sci-fi movie by him.  The last picture is a three part assignment, which we had to use Photoshop, Illustrator and a combination of both to make a set of three coordinating skateboard decks.  The first deck is all Photoshop.  The second is all Illustrator.  And the last is both programs.  I tried to design the boards to look good upside down, since skateboards often get flipped around.  My theme was a broken ball joint doll who is turning into crystals.
