the text reads:

Isn't she lovely? She has big blue eyes and black curly hair. Marda is a French flower girl. She wears a tight fitted, black velvet basque with a bouffant skirt of gayly colored floral design. She sells her flowers as  she walks along the streets displaying them in a basket which is suspended from her shoulders with  ribbons

Here is another copy of Junior Ledger Magazine page, this one is dated Sunday July 23, 1933 and is from the artist Laura Brock.  The Text below the doll reads "With her arms filled with flowers and wearing a large floppy-summer hat, Mary Dorothy is returning from a pleasant day in the country.  Your whole Doll Family will enjoy getting out among the birds and bees for an outing.  Mary Dorothy also has brought back a friendly little squirrel for you animal pet collection." Captain Kid Jr.

 

This is a black and white copy of a Laura Brock paper doll from the newspaper Junior Ledge Page date Sunday August 6 1933.  Many times when I have purchased lots or collections the collector includes copies of the items they are missing.  The page is a white color instead of the yellowed newspaper print paper. The text reads "Captain Kidd Jr. Pirates have gone out of style on the high seas so the little fellow may be excused for not looking very fierece but dress him up in the uniform and he will look like a real descendant of the famous sea rover who unfurled the Jolly Rover on the Spanish Main in search of luckless ships bearing jewels, pieces-of-eight and other treasure.  We fear he will not have much luck however, with the 'pirate ship' he has in his hands.  Copyright 1933 LA times."  The baby/toddler has one pirate outfit and hat.

Your Valentine C

 Laura Brock paper doll Cherie.  Here is the Valentine Girl for your doll family.  Little Cherie, whose name, in French, means "sweetheart" has brought with her a charming dress and hat, trimmed with hearts in preparation for your family circle's Valentine party.

Even Cherie's novel little bungalow is completely made out of hearts.  be sure to clip out these doll cutouts in The Seattle Star every Monday.  You'll find much enjoyment in coloring them and keeping them together for your "Star Doll Family."

Ruddy, rounded  cheeks and flashing saucy eyes, bespeak the healthy outdoor girl, and Helene certainly is one of them.  she is a leader of all kinds of sports for girls and her flower garden is her home hobby.  Isn't that a swagger gymnasium outfit she has?

A very studious young lady seeks admittance to your Doll Family this week.  Constance is in the fourth grade and, judging from the number of books and pencils she is bringing home she must study very hard.  And what a winsome little face!  Constance is one of the most beautiful additions to the family on(?) many weeks.  But she also is athletically included, being an excellent tennis player, so don't be misled by her baby face

This demure new member of your Doll Family evidently is a lover of horseback riding as she has brought with her a charming riding habit, with riding boots, crop and everything ready for the bridle path.  Her little trick horse, Pegasus is a rather wild-looking animal, and probably not much good for morning canter but he will make an intresting pet around the house anyway.

Girls, here's a change to give the newest member of your Star doll family, Trixie, the lion tamer, a costume of gay colors for she's ready to go on wit her act at the circus.  color her costume and then cut her out and dress her up.  you'll find another doll cut-out in next Monday's Star.  Laura brock 7-23 (no year) LA Times Syndicate.  The black and white girl has one costume and boots.  Her cheeks and face ave been lightly colored. 

Another Addition to Your doll Family

 

This Laura Brock paper doll is from Sunday August 27 1933.  Her name is Eliz Ann (?) and she is posed on a rock with one sailor outfit and hat.  the lines on this one are very blue. 

She's Business Girl in Doll Family

This sheet by Laura Brock is missing a good bit of the corner, but thankfully the paper doll and clothing are intact, but we lose a bit of the dolls story.  her name is Stella and she is the' business girl' in the doll family.  She looks a bit young to go to work everyday. 6-18 is the month and day but i don't have a year.

Miriam

This newspaper paper doll is quite discolored from age.  This is Miriam and She's Going to Meet Your Doll Family.  This panel is by Laura Brock.  It includes one girl, looking over her shoulder (love the pose) along with two outfits and a little dog.  It is dated 1-14 1934.  The text reads:

Miriam
Here we find Miriam getting dressed so that she can meet members of the Doll Family.  She is going to wear her prettiest dress and the hat with a red feather on it.  If it's chilly, she'll wear her new coat too.  If Peke, her doggie, promises to be real good Miriam may take her along with her.

Pretty Blonde Joins Your Family

This newspaper paper doll is from the artist Laura Brock.  She has been colored.  I love her little dog!  She has one outfit, a hat, and a cape.  It is dated March 4, 1933.  The text reads:

This is Judy, who is known as one of the prettiest girls in the neighborhood.  She has lovely blonde curls and deep blue eyes.
She loves to dress like the older girls, and poses for you in this picture with her best friend and bodyguard, Elf, her Russian wolfhound.

Lucille Makes Her Garden

This newspaper panel is from the artist Laura Brock features a doll named Lucile along with one dress and hat.  I believe this is from the Seattle Star newspaper.  This is dated 4-23 but does not state a year, sometime in the early 1930s.  The newspaper has yellowed with age.

This week went by quickly!  I've been busy at home cleaning up after the holidays.  Getting ready to go back to school soon.  Above is a newspaper doll named Marge.  This paper doll has two gowns and two hats.  It's black and white but aged over the years.  The artist is Laura Brock. It is dated 3-25-1934.  This is from the LA Times Syndicate newspaper

Toe Dance in Your Doll Family

This black and white newspaper paper doll is by the artist Laura Brock.  The fairy ballerina doll named Greta has one outfit with a matching hat.  The panel is discolored from age.  No date, but around 1930's, possibly a winter month.  One more week of school and I'm done with that for a while (til Jan 22)

This newspaper sheet is a black and white paper doll named Muriel.  She has two outfits.  The newspaper has discolored, so now the page is more yellow.  This doll is by an artist named Laura Brock, whom I have a few paper dolls from and I will post later.  This is dated 1934 but I don't know the month.  I believe these are from the Seattle Star newspaper.
