Ballerina' Bethany

 

I do not have a date for this magazine other than Holiday 1992. Artist is Theresa Borelli The text  reads " Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without the Nutcraker, and this year Ballerina Bethany is dancing the lead role. Mom and dad are so proud, they had a toy design a wooden Nutcracker, a stuffed mouse king and  a porcelain doll of the Chinese and Spanish Dancer to present to Bethany opening night. Oh how surprised she will be!"

Here are some Lazer Sticker paper dolls made in China.  I got these with some other paper dolls.  Note some dolls have very thin little limbs! I noticed some familair looking but recolored characters on the first page.  Some ballerinas on both sheets and some clothing that looks like they don't fit any of it! 

Barbie lace and dress Dancing Doll

This is a box set from the Colorforms company, it is a 'busy fingers activity toy' as stated on the box.  It features Ballerina Barbie with lace on costumes, which means the clothing is tied onto the doll through the holes in the outfits with a string.  The doll is jointed, with a plastic bit that can be seen in the second photo. Not sure if it complete but the box says seven sets of clothing and there are seven outfits and twelve hats.  The date on the box and doll is 1975.  

Collaboration July Ballerina/Dancer

July is almost over.  Back to school soon!  lots of stuff happening at work.  Busy busy.  It's hot here!  Anyway, this month's theme was Ballerina/Dancer.  i pretty much just stuck with ballerina.  I can't say I've seen many ballets, because I usually fall asleep but I love love love ballerina costumes.  And a few of my favorite movies involve ballerinas (The Red Shoes, Susperia, Black Swan).  As a kid, I loved ballerina paper dolls.  Wait, I still do! 

Included are lots of tutus, including Odette from the Swan Princess.  Three sets of ballet shoes, and three hair styles.

A Biedermeier Dancing Doll

This two page jointed paper doll is from Dollmaking Magazine from Winter 1986. The artist is John Darcy Noble.  It is black and white with instructions for assembly.  I have more Dollmaking magazine paper dolls from issues given to me by a coworker recently.

Here is the 14th Issue of OPDAG's Newsletter from November 1987.  This theme was "Shall We Dance" and features many ballerinas and a Dress-A-Doll by Judy M. Italian Kitchen

A lovely paper doll by Donald Hendricks.  Unfortunately, this artist passed away earlier this year.  This doll was from his website Legacy paper dolls, which is no longer up.  This doll reminds me of a Ballerina, with bright fall like colors.

Kelly Dewinter paperdoll

Here's a set I did a while ago as a request from Kelly DeWinter on Deviant Art http://kellydewinter.deviantart.com/  I just included the colored outfits unless they are only in black and white. There are a few pages of black and white clothes I never got around to coloring. I'm not sure how exactly this just turned into a ballet set.

Katy Keene Butterfly

A few fantasy themed Katy Keene paper dolls from various years.  I love the colors on some of the outfits and the butterfly motif is very well used.  Each page is a single sheet with 3 or 4 outfits.  The outfits are designed by readers of the magazine and given credit on the page next to their designs. These four pages were found around the internet and I've decided to post them here because of the similar theme. I do not recall where I found them, so if the scans belong to you, please let me know so I can credit and link back to the orignal source.

From a magazine, most likely Doll World or something similar. She has two beautiful costumes, one from the Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker and the other is Cinderella.  The artist did not sign the pages, so I do not know who drew this lovely paper doll.  There may be more outfits for this doll, but I am not sure.
