Movie Dressographs Greta Garbo
A while ago I purchased a lot of 3 large paper doll albums. The albums contain Movie Dressograph paper dolls from the Sunday Magazine- St. Louis Post Dispatch from the 1930s era. Some of the dolls are high quality copies and some are newspaper originals, attached carefully to sturdy paper to help them from ripping. Newspaper is fragile and although I usually prefer unaltered dolls, I believe the white paper has probably prevented much damage to these pages. Above is Greta Garbo from December 6th, 1931. This one is a copy. The main difference between the copies and the original newspaper is that the photocopies have a slightly more yellow tint while the newspaper have more of a brown color. These paper dolls are very large sheets and I've scanned this in two parts, then stitched it together using Photoshop. Can you tell where? I hope not! I have just begun scanning the first book and will post more soon. The albums also included Muny Opera Dressographs from the same era and newspaper.

Robert Best Barbie Paper Doll
Here's a little project I finished. This is a Robert Best Barbie paper doll. I used Robert Best's lovely Barbie designs and sketches to create a wardrobe for his basic Barbie doll. The art is by Robert Best and I do not claim it as my own. I only transformed the art into a new paper doll. Mattel owns the rights to Barbie. This paper doll has five pages which includes 18 lovely outfits. All of the outfits have been edited from the orignal designs and shapes to fit the doll. This doll is not for sale in any way since the artwork I used to create it is not my own. I am not intending to infringe on any copyright by creating this doll. I simply wanted to take art from an artist I admire and adapt it into a paper doll format.

Quick Marker Doll
Last day to enter the paper doll contest. Voting will being tomorrow. Here is a quick single page paper doll experimenting with new markers I purchased. These markers were 'watercolor' dual tip makers, however they don't seem to work well with water. The paper wasn't the best choice and buckled somewhat. I may add more outfits to this doll when I find markers I like better. This is not a cleaned up doll, so coloring goes outside of lines, but that would not mater if she is cut out I suppose.
