As you may have noticed,  my hiatus continues. This blog is currently on a back burner of a stove that doesn't exist for a while. Forgive my metaphors. In other words I am not currently working on this blog and will not post anything for some time.

Mrs. Frizzle 4th of July

 

Happy 4th of July! I designed a paper doll inspired by the character from the Magic School bus series Mrs. Frizzle.  This character was created by Joanne Cole and originally illustrated by Bruce Degan. The book series was published by Scholastic Company and the TV series was on PBS. The bases are from the different versions, TV to the left and book to the right.  The fashions are designed by me for the holiday.  I plan on doing more outfits from the books and TV series.  Please note this is fan art and I do not claim to own this character, just adapting it into a paper doll.  She has two outfits, each doll can wear, and a pair of shoes and boots.  Each doll has an earring as well, that can be placed by cutting a small slit near the hairline and pushing the tab in.

An unusual butterfly paper doll  page in black and white by the artist Mary Ellen Smith.  It is very creative with three sets of wings to 'dress' the butterfly. the flower border is super cute and looks like fun to color

Annie Rag Doll

 

This two page paper doll is Annie the Rag doll inspired by fashion patterns from McCall's crafts Number 621 and 624. She has 8 outfits and 5 sets of shoes.  The lines on this set are so crisp and clean the art is really lovely. dated 1982

Marilyn Monroe

 

I think this paper doll is missing a second page.  This Swedish panel is from a magazine and features the famous actress Marilyn Monroe with one outfit, 1960s early 1970s estimate date. 

 

A beautiful two page paper doll with a painterly quality and lovely soft colors.  This doll, Natalie is from the artist Evelyn Gathing abd features three outfits and matching hats and accessories. She represents a 17 year old from the 18th century. This doll comes from Contemporary Doll magazine.  There is no date on the page. most likely from the 1990s

These two black and white sheets are from a Patsy Doll convention? (I believe) and is from the artist Jean Theaker and is dated 1993, Each doll has two outfits.

Another possible repost. Baby Doll with cloth-like clothing is from Whitman 1944 by the artist Kathryn Taylor and features 4 babies with 'cloth-like' (flocked) clothing

Here is another two page magazine paper doll from Sweden.  This one has Bridget Bardot with three outfits. Possibly from 1976 or around that era. 

Anime paper doll

 

The front and back cover are the same.  This is a Japanese paper doll set based on an anime, however I do not know the name of the anime and I cannot read the text on the cover. Cardboard punch out dolls and clothing Includes 3 dolls. Not sure if I posted or not but could not find.  Please let me know if you know the title of the anime or what it says on the cover. Thank you.

25 Dolls with 149 Dresses

I am unsure if I posted this set before but I could not find it with a search.  25 Dolls with 149 Dresses by Queen Holden from Whitman 1938.  This has 2 sets as I had some duplicates of the dolls and scanned them all.  All 25 dolls though some are worse for wear in played with condition.  Includes many clothes but I did not count to see if all 149 are accounted for. Jack and Rose are designed to hold hands. Doll 8 Margery looks very much like Shirley Temple.
