Fantastic

 For the September October issue of Doll Castle news I designed a paper doll Fangtastic inspired by Draculaura from Monster High. The doll ahs four dresses, two pairs of shoes, two hair styles, and a purse and is inspired from G1 and G3 outfits of the character

Happy Halloween everyone!  Above is a  old paper doll I drew of Draculaura from the Monster High series of dolls by Mattel.  I never colored her and I planned on doing more of the Monster High ghouls but never got around to it.  She has her classic outfit along with Dawn of the Dance, Gloom Beach and 13 wishes.

Final outcome

I recently purchased a Cedar Wood doll with the intent of trying my hand at repainting.  I loved Cedar's wood texture and hair but hated her face.  First step is removing the factory paint with acetone.  Then I expieremented with pastels for lips and cheeks.  I tried using acyrlic paint for the eyes but found it sorta gooby and hard to smooth out the brush strokes.  I removed the paint and used water color pencil instead.  This is my first attempt at repainting.  I think I've learned a few things.  For example, I found it easier to work on one eye, then switch to the other eye, then go back to the first for layering rather then trying to do both at once.  I have not sealed the doll so I may strip the paint and try again for a better result.  The photos are not the best because I used my camera phone.

I've been very busy! Here are some pics of my non paper doll doll collections.  Some items I took pictures of came out blurry.  I go to the toy store about once a week in search of new interesting dolls.  Nothing has really peaked my interest as of late.  The newer Novi Stars dolls are on my list if they go on sale.  I'm most looking for the "Ever After High" line by Mattel.

At first I didn't care for the Monster High dolls.  Each one had something I didn't quite care for.  I watched the line for a while, waiting for a doll that I liked all through.  Finally Spectra came out, i loved her hair, her translucent hands and feet.  after Spectra, I got Rochelle and Robecca, each doll I love.  Rochelle is lovely with her pink hair, and her wings are very cute.  Robecca has lovely gear eyes and a very nice costume.  I might get a few more dolls.  I would like an Abbey but every one I find is covered in too much glitter.
