Novi Stars OC sketch paper doll

So sometimes I do little doodle paper dolls and never do much with them.  The above is a paper doll of a Novi Star doll based on designs I sketched out forever ago.  I changed a hair style to make it easier to put on the doll.
Originally I was going to color this and do more fashions, but I think it's just another project I'll never finish.

Christmas 2017

Between finals, cutting my thumb, and being sick, I haven't had much time to do a Christmas paper doll.  Start early, I tell myself every year... Yet the holiday sneaks up on you!  Don't know if I'll do a New Years paper doll.

Music Inspiration

Alright, managed to finish this today!  Been SUPER BUSY with summer school doing very strange 'art' projects.  For music inspiration I decided to focus on bands and band shirts, (mostly rock).  My orignal idea was to do outfits inspired by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyonce but once I started school I knew that would not happen.  The tank top is a shirt I actually owned (the version I owned was 3/4 sleeve) for the band Siouxsie and the Banshees.  The top under that is a No Doubt t-shirt (I had a different one with the band drawn as cartoons)

The last shirt is a Linkin Park shirt, and as many of you know (or may not know) one of the singers, Chester Bennington committed suicide earlier this month.  The band now has a new logo but I decided to do the old logo.  I grew up listening to this band, especially their first two albums.  I was very saddened to hear the news.

As much as I would love to include every band I ever loved, it would be too much!  For the pants I've included patches from the following bands (in no particular order):

Rolling Stones
Pink Floyd
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Offspring*
Kiss
ACDC
David Bowie (not a band but love him!)
Misfits
Nirvana
Led Zeppelin

I tried to choose bands that had iconic logos (and also easy to draw) I did NOT freehand any of these!  Anyway Offspring patch is particularly important because when my fiance and I started dating, he invited me to an Offspring concert. I was too embarrassed to tell him I had no idea who the band was and declined his offer.  After the concert, he gave me the patch.

And so, the last thing is the hair, which is inspired by Sia's famous wig. For more outfits for this doll drawn by me click here

Please check out the other great outfits for this month's theme!  So much variety!

Paper Doll Collaberation Project Favorite Seires

This months theme was Favorite Novels.  I decided to do Favorite series instead.  Most of the books I read are classic, sci-fi and horror.  I chose to draw Ozma of Oz from the Oz series by L Frank Baum.  I did not read all of the Oz books but read up to the 6th book "Emerald City of Oz".  I attempted to read the next book "Patchwork Girl of Oz" but the didn't get through it.  The second outfit is a Hogwarts uniform from the famous Harry Potter series by JK Rowling.

Future Fashion

This month's theme for the paper doll collaboration project is Future Fashion.  I was very inspired by Retro future, like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and the Jetsons cartoon.  I love geometric shapes in futuristic designs. I image these outfits in metallic colors with bright neon accents, maybe holographic print. I designed the hair to look like it was floating, it would be some bright unconventional color, perhaps a galaxy purple?  My lines aren't as neat this month, I do not currently have access to my drawing tablet.

The doll and her outfits can be found here http://missmissypaperdolls.blogspot.com/search?q=paper+doll+collaberation

Paper Doll Collaberation

Alright, so if you follow other paper doll blogs you may have stumbled across a project called Paper doll Collaboration 2017 from Paper Doll School, Paper Thin Personas, and Pop Culture Paper Dolls.

Well, I asked if I could join the project, yes it's belated, but the girls agreed to let me in on the fun!  So above is my modification of Julie Mathews wonderful base along with January's theme, the Year I was born.  The two outfits are based on the sewing patterns below.  I was born in 1988, a bad year to be a bridesmaid!  Puffy sleeves and ruffles! I haven't named her yet!

Be sure to check out the other girls dolls at the links below.  The outfits should all fit, with the exception of hair I think.

Valentine's Doll

http://missmissypaperdolls.blogspot.com/2015/04/easter-doll.html

I used a base I've already used for an Easter doll in 2015 and edited it to be a Valentine's theme.  I used a font here for the heart accents.  Main colors are pink and red with a purple outfit as well.  She has 8 dresses with hearts and bows.

Folk Costumes Sketch

Here is a paper doll I've designed using folk costumes from various countries.  I oringally intended this doll to be used for the Around the World theme of OPDAG's Paper Doll Studios but decided to design a Kokeshi inspired paper doll instead.  I may use this base later for other projects or try to clean up this project, but for now I'm putting it aside to work on other things.

Christmas Doll

So a little late... lol.  Here is my Christmas doll.  She has 5 outfits, most with shoes and hair accessories.  The fonts I used are from dafont.com http://www.dafont.com/vintage-christmas.font and http://www.dafont.com/santas-sleigh.font

I used reference for the outfits and dolls from vintage doll catalog pages. I may add some more outfits in the future.
