Paper doll scrap outfits collage

 

If you have a box like I do of spare bits and pieces of cut paper doll outfits, you can use them for collage, altered art, making cards, decorating mail, mixed media or other. The above are four collage canvases I created using my scrap left over clothes; I sorted by color then played with the layouts I like to use these as computer desktop or cellphone digital wallpaper ad well.   The convention is a blast. I am exhausted but having tons of fun. Highly recommend. If you've never been to a paper doll convention, go! The people, collectors, and artist of the community are absolutely wonderful. 

Paper doll Convention 2024

 It's almost time for the Paper Doll Convention https://www.opdag.com/convention.html  This will make my fifth? convention. My first was 2016 Phoenix, AZ - Around the World, then 2018 Seattle, WA - Entertainment Extravaganza, and 2022 - Milwaukee, WI - Tell Me a Story and last years 2023 - Philly, PA - Dreaming the Future, the theme for this year is Anything Goes: The Roaring 20's in Indianapolis, IN. It's always a ball but I always get super excited and kinda stressed and anxious and ususually buy too much. I did a quick black and white single page paper doll for the convention but haven't done much paper doll art in the last year. I also did outfits for the dress a doll. Coloring always takes me forever, and I'm rarely motivated to color my art.

Queen Holden Paper Doll Dressmaker

 

This set is from the artist Queen Holden.  It is called  Paper Doll "Dressmaker" and is Whitman publishing company from 1935.  The set came with two dolls and patterns for each doll to make outfits along with paper and sleeves and collars. Because the clothes are hand made each version of this set is unique.  This is my second copy of the set.
