Dress a Doll Kelly

Sometimes I totally forget I made a thing or if I shared it or not. I designed this base inspired by Mattel Barbie's little sister Kelly (also sometimes called Shelly or Shelley?) the base comes in two variations one with undies for those who do not care for doll nudity and one without. There doll is bald so that one can design hair for it. I designed this in 2020 using Adobe Illustrator and I think I may have posted on Facebook. But seems I never uploaded it to the blog. Anyway, feel free to print it out and design outfits.

For a Special Granddaughter A Dress Up Barbie Paper Doll

This holiday card features Barbie of Mattel fame.  She has four pages of clothing, all real Barbie outfits,  I was surprised, however, that she lacks the holiday dress that is pictured on the front of the card.  The front of the card and the doll are embossed. This is from Ambassador cards (owned by Hallmark) and is dated 1995. The inside of the card says "Barbie brought some outfits, And she's hoping what you'll do Is press out her clothes carefully and try them on her, too! Hope it's fun to dress her up In all her brand-new clothes, and hope you know, Granddaughter, That you're loved from head to toes!" "Happy Holidays with Love!" "Instructions: with scissors cut out rectangular doll stand along pink lines and fold in the middle. Press out Barbie along perforated lines. Stand Barbie upright by inserting her into slits of the stand. Press out clothes along perforated lines. Have fun!"

Halloween Witch Barbie

A VERY QUICK Barbie Halloween paper doll featuring two witchy outfits.  The first was Enchanted Halloween and the second was Halloween Glow.  I used the site Pixlr to make this and a computer mouse instead of my usual tablet and Photoshop.  I may make some more Halloween outfits but probably not this year. same base as Valetine, Christmas, and St Patricks day paper dolls.

Friendsgiving

Mattel's Skipper and Skooter were authentic Skipper costumes in this quick Friendsgiving Paper Doll using vintage catalog images for the bases.  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/303852306083224975/

Friendsgiving is an alternate to Thanksgiving where you spend the holiday with friends who may not have family near enough to visit.  I did three outfits for each girl.

Barbie lace and dress Dancing Doll

This is a box set from the Colorforms company, it is a 'busy fingers activity toy' as stated on the box.  It features Ballerina Barbie with lace on costumes, which means the clothing is tied onto the doll through the holes in the outfits with a string.  The doll is jointed, with a plastic bit that can be seen in the second photo. Not sure if it complete but the box says seven sets of clothing and there are seven outfits and twelve hats.  The date on the box and doll is 1975.

Barbie Dress-up kit

Here's another box set from Colorforms.  This one features Barbie (living Barbie i believe) from 1970 (according to ebay).  Some pieces are missing from the set, one side of her vest, on boot, some glasses, a glove, and a belt.  It includes a pamphlet that shows how the doll can be dressed.  The text on the pamphlet reads:

Hello. I'm Barbie. Pictured here are some of my favorite outfits for school, shopping and swinging record parties.  You can have lots of fun playing with Colorforms new Barbie Dress-Up Kit.

I believe there's another version of this set very similar but with a different girl on the box

Barbie and the Rockers Dress Up Set

I recently purchased a LOT of colorforms, mostly paper doll and dress up sets.  Colorforms come in boxes and contain clothing that 'stick' like magic to the doll (no tabs) They are usually somewhat shiny and slick and sometimes limited in color.  Above is Barbie and the Rockers Dress Up Set which comes with a doll and 1 sheet of clothing.  The clothing includes 3 outfits and 3 bottoms along with 2 pairs of shoes and accessories.  The doll is interesting because it uses a mix of photography and illustrated elements.  The doll also has a stand.  This is dated 1986

St Patrick's Day Barbie Card

I used the same base I used for my Christmas card here and Valentine's Day card here.  Fold each page in half, and staple together to make a card.  There are eight outfits total with a few matching hats.  Most are base on actual Barbies but some are made up (rainbow shirt and clover dress)  The front says Happy St. Patrick's Day, A Paper Doll Just for you and the inside says "Wishing You Luck on St. Patrick's Day"

Barbie a History of a Doll timeline

Tomorrow is Barbie's 60th Birthday.  Above is a timeline I designed for one of my classes last semester.  I drew Barbie's dream house (one of many) and separated the rooms into different eras, with key points and dolls for each.  The photos are from the internet and since it was a school project, I didn't keep track of the sources.  Some are from books too.  Due to the fact I lost my flashdrive, I no longer have the original final version of this file, only a jpg and early stage progress so I can't change it unless I start over.  But overall I like how it turned out.  I used two fonts, Barbie Medium Itallic and Dolly Script font, which is for personal use.  I consider school projects personal use, since I have no intent on selling the final product.

It's not a paper doll, but I figure most people who like paper dolls like real dolls too!  and i like sharing other projects.  I do not have time to make a paper doll for her birthday, with two jobs, school and a wedding next week.

Happy Valentine's Day card

Above is a 3 page Valentine's Day card I designed.  I used the same base as my Christmas doll here,  The fashion doll is based on Mattel's Barbie and most all of her outfits are inspired by Valentine's Barbie dolls.  I made more mix and match options for her.  The cover says "Happy Valentine's Day" and then "A Paper Doll Just For You".  The doll has some accessories on the cover such as hats, and Valentine's gifts. The back cover has four dresses, a purse, and a bouquet of flowers.  The next page features 3 dresses, a purse, and three shoes followed by 1 dress, 2 tops, a skirt and some shoes along with more Valentine's accessories.  The inspired page features 3 tops and four skirts, 1 more dress, another pair of shoes and one last purse.  The inside says "You're Always Fashionable  Be My Valentine!"  This would be folded in half and  stapled together to make a card.

Barbie Jewel Secrets Big Coloring Book

I did not scan all the coloring pages, but focused on the paper doll and outfits along with one page I thought was pretty.  This coloring book is from Golden published in 1987 and features Mattel's Jewel Secrets Barbie.  The paper doll has 4 dresses and 2 accessories, all which can be colored.
