Centennial Sue A peace Doll

 

A black and white paper doll from Doll Castle News dated November December 1976.  Sue has 5 dresses with dolls.  There an illustration of sue at the fair.  This page would be folded and placed into the center of the magazine.  Helen McCook is the artist

Dress A Nerd

 

This small sticker sheet is from Hallmark.  Other then that, I have no information as far as a date.  It was 35 cents orignally.  The 'nerd' has some tops, a pair of pants, a pair of shoes and a hat.

Here's another Peace doll by the artist Helen McCook.  This two page black and white paper doll is from Doll Castle News November December 1975.  Julia has 5 outfits and a hat, all the oufits feature little dolls!

It can be hard to figure out which newspaper dolls I've posted.  Here's a Tillie the Toiler Fashion Parade from 5-28-1933.  She has two outfits and two hats.

Japanese Magic Tree House

Evangeline A Peace Doll

 

This magazine page is from Doll Castle News dated March/April 1980.  Evangline- a Peace doll from about 1920 is by the artist Helen Mc Cook.  She has four outfits and two hats and some lovely border illustartions.

Jane Arden's Wardobe

 

This Jane panel features 3 outfits, including a lovely green suit I would wear today!  She has 2 hats a s well. The date is 1-3-1937

Cousin maggie and Friends cross stitch paper doll

 

So, I don't actually do much cross stitch, I prefer embroidery (mostly because one time I missed a line half way through and didn't notice til I was done!)  But someone donated some old cross stitch magazines to the library and I grabbed them.  To my surprise, I found a paper doll!  This was in Cross Stitch and Country Crafts magazine Novemeber/December 1990. Designed by Robin Clark. It includes a page with finished project and instructions and a pattern page with more instructions.

Ai to yūjō no gorira

Two more Japanese Magic Tree House books arrived at the library. Issue 10 Janguru no okita and  Kangarū kyūshutsu sakusen or "Tigers at Twilight" and "Dingoes at Dinnertime"  Each book has two stories and paper dolls featuring the girl and boy character.  Magic Tree house is written by Mary Pope Osborne.  The second is issue 13 which features " ai to yujo no gorira" which includes the stories "Stage fright on a summer nights" and "good morning gorillas"  These are from my library, so some tape is on the covers and i cannot remove it.

Aunt Polly A Peace Doll

 

Aunt Polly a Peace doll from when we were little about 1900 is a black and white paper doll by the artist Helen McCook.  She has 6 outfits and a doll who has one outfit.  I don't have a date on this one and it is a photocopy.  It would be from Doll Castle News magazine, around 1979 or 1980   This page would have been folded in half and stapled in the middle of the magazine.

turnabout dolls

This is a set from 1943 called Turnabout Dolls from Samuel Lowe.  I believe they are reprinted from other sets.  The dolls are double sided and can be flipped (hence turnabout)  I only have three dolls (six if you count both sides) and one is very damaged.  these are very fragile.
